MISSION IMPACT 3

In partnership with Classroom of Hope, the Business Benchmark Group community returned to Lombok, Indonesia for Mission Impact 3 - a journey that was equal parts purposeful and personal. We came to witness the opening of a transformed school, to lay hands on the walls of another, and to stand alongside a community that refused to stop rebuilding after the devastating earthquakes of 2018 tore down more than 400 schools across the region.

This was not a passive trip. Our group rolled up their sleeves, visited the factories turning plastic waste into earthquake-resistant building blocks, and shared meals and moments with the teachers, builders, and families who reminded us why this work matters.

What we achieved

We began at Honest MADE, a recycling and manufacturing centre in South Lombok, where Indonesia's waste plastic is transformed into sustainable furniture and community products. From there, we visited the Block Solutions factory — where that same plastic becomes the lightweight, modular building blocks used to construct the new classrooms. Seeing the full cycle, from discarded waste to standing walls, brought the mission into sharp focus.

Through the generosity of our incredible donors, including those who donated at the 2024 Business Benchmark Group Summit, we helped complete and officially open Seruni Mumbul 3 Primary School, while also contributing to the construction of a new classroom at SDN 2 Pemenang Barat. Both schools were built using recycled plastic block technology: earthquake-safe, sustainable, and designed to last for generations.

MISSION IMPACT

MISSION IMPACT 1

In 2018, a series of devastating earthquakes tore through North Lombok, Indonesia - collapsing homes, livelihoods, and every single classroom at Rempek 1 Primary School.

The community rebuilt. The children returned. But the classrooms were never enough.

178 students crammed into spaces built for far fewer. Learning happened anyway - because it had to. But cramped, overcrowded rooms aren't just uncomfortable. They steal focus, dampen curiosity, and quietly tell children that their education isn't worth investing in.

We believed otherwise.

MISSION IMPACT 2

For Mission Impact 2, Benchmark Group travelled to the Kayangan District of North Lombok, Indonesia, to witness the grand opening of Selengen 2 Primary School, a school our community helped bring to life. In partnership with Classroom of Hope, we funded the construction of brand-new classrooms and modern facilities for a community that had waited far too long.

But this mission went beyond bricks and mortar. Every block placed was made from recycled plastic, every dollar spent reduced carbon, and every classroom opened told 268 children that their education mattered. This is what we believe business can do not just generate returns, but generate change.
